Behind the Lens: A Two-Day Journey at the Rashtrapati Running Shield Event

Rashtrapati Running Shield Event Nepal Photoshoot

As a photographer, there are moments when you’re not just capturing photos—you’re immersed in the entire experience. That was exactly the case during my two-day adventure shooting the Rashtrapati Running Shield event. The Rashtrapati Running Shield is one of Nepal's most prestigious sports festivals, bringing together students from various schools to compete in multiple disciplines. The event features a variety of sports, including athletics, volleyball, kabaddi, taekwondo, wushu, and karate. (nepalmonitor.com)

For two full days, I was behind the camera, shooting everything from Kabaddi and Volleyball to Karate and more. The real challenge? Capturing over a thousand photos while managing manual settings. Normally, I rely on auto settings, but for this event, I had to take full control. With fast-paced sports, adjusting shutter speed and ISO was critical—different lighting conditions and ever-changing exposures made it even more challenging.

It was exhausting, but also exhilarating. Each game presented a new opportunity to experiment with light, movement, and technique. The hardest part wasn’t just adjusting settings, but staying on my feet from morning until the very end of the day, making sure I captured every moment of the action.

Despite the long hours, the hard work paid off. The event was a dynamic mix of competition and celebration, and as a photographer, it felt great to capture it all. If you're interested, you can also check out the video footage I shot during this intense experience.
