Project Description:
The primary goal of this project is to create an emotionally impactful video that captures the essence of the annual function at Everest Academy. Inspired by the storytelling style of popular Indian and Nepali shows, the video aims to be relatable and easily understandable for the audience.
Process:
In the initial phase, we faced several challenges, but also gained invaluable insights. The plan was to produce a series of videos leading up to and covering the two-day event. The first video served as an invitation, encouraging students to invite everyone to attend. During the event, we documented various performances, dances, and stalls, with students also helping to capture behind-the-scenes moments.
Challenges and Learnings:
One significant challenge was the slow pacing of the video. While the slow pace made the editing process more comfortable and allowed me to ensure that all errors and unnecessary parts were removed, I understand that some viewers prefer shorter, more fast-paced videos. The pacing was also influenced by the fact that many students were involved, and I wanted to capture their performances in full.
Another challenge was the audio setup; the audio wire was too short, restricting our movement and resulting in some unstable footage. We also lost a quick release plate from the tripod, adding to the difficulty.
Additionally, I chose not to apply color grading to the entire video due to time constraints and the learning curve involved. I plan to incorporate these enhancements in future projects once I become more proficient.
